My Philosophy
AJ Orenstein, DACM, L.AC
My path to Chinese medicine began in conventional healthcare, where I worked as an intensive care nurse. While I was grateful for that experience, I often found myself wanting more for my patients than the healthcare system could realistically provide; more time, more presence, and more space to care for the person behind the diagnosis.
That search led me to acupuncture and Chinese medicine, where healing is viewed through a different lens. Rather than focusing on isolated symptoms, this medicine considers the body as an interconnected whole and creates space for lasting change over time.
Today, I blend the clinical perspective of my nursing background with the depth and nuance of Chinese medicine to support people navigating pain, anxiety, stress, digestive problems, hormone imbalances, and the everyday challenges that can leave us feeling disconnected from ourselves. My approach is thoughtful, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that the best care begins with listening.
I created Ravel House because I believe the environment is part of the treatment. The pace, the lighting, the quiet, the feeling of being genuinely welcomed. These details aren't incidental, they're intentional. My hope is that from the moment you walk through the door, you'll feel yourself begin to exhale.
Whether you're seeking relief from a specific concern or simply looking for a place to reconnect with yourself, it's a privilege to be part of your healing journey.
